Community Policy

Effective date: October 15, 2026
Last updated: October 15, 2026

Decibel is for people who love music and want to talk about it honestly. This policy explains what you can post and how to treat each other. It's part of our Terms of Service, and it applies to everything you post on Decibel: ratings, reviews, discussions, comments, collections, profile information, and images.

1. Be respectful

  • Don't harass, threaten, or bully anyone, and don't encourage others to.
  • Don't share someone's private information, such as their home address, phone number, or private messages, without their permission.
  • Don't post hateful content that attacks people because of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or other protected characteristics.
  • Criticize the music, not the people. Tearing an album apart is fine. Abusing the person who loves it, or the artist, isn't.

2. Keep it safe

  • Don't post sexually explicit material or graphic violence.
  • Never post content that sexualizes minors. We remove it, close the account, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as the law requires.
  • Don't promote self-harm, terrorism, or violent extremism.
  • Don't use Decibel to buy, sell, or promote illegal goods or services.

3. Be yourself

  • Don't impersonate artists, labels, other users, or us, or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.
  • Fan and parody accounts are welcome if their name or bio makes it clear what they are.

4. Respect other people's rights

  • Post only what you have the right to share. Don't upload audio, full song lyrics, or artwork you don't have the rights to. Quoting a line or two in a review is fine.
  • If you believe something on Decibel infringes your copyright, follow the process in section 8 of the Terms.

5. Keep ratings honest

  • Ratings should reflect what you actually think. Don't use fake or multiple accounts, or coordinate with others, to push a release's rating up or down.
  • Don't buy, sell, or trade ratings, reviews, follows, or accounts.
  • If you rate or review a release you worked on, or that you're paid to promote, say so in your review.

6. No spam

  • Don't post repetitive or unsolicited content, unauthorized advertising, or links to scams, malware, or phishing.
  • Don't use automation to post, follow, like, or rate.

7. Reporting and blocking

You can report posts, comments, and users in the app, and block anyone you don't want to hear from. We review reports and act on the ones that break this policy, though we may not act on every report. Please don't file reports you know are false.

8. What happens when the rules are broken

Depending on how serious a violation is and whether it's happened before, we may remove content, limit what an account can do, or suspend or permanently close the account. Serious violations, such as threats of violence or content that exploits children, lead to immediate removal and may be reported to law enforcement. Where appropriate, we'll tell you what we did and why. If you think we got it wrong, email contact@stan-official.app.

9. Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy as Decibel grows, and change the "Last updated" date when we do. If a change is material, we'll give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect.
