Terms of Service

Effective date: October 15, 2026
Last updated: October 15, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and SUMMA TECHNOLOGIES LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("we", "us"), about your use of the Decibel mobile app, this website, and related services (together, "Decibel"). By creating an account or using Decibel, you agree to these Terms and to our Community Policy, and you acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Decibel.

1. Who can use Decibel

You must be at least 16 years old, and old enough to agree to these Terms where you live, to use Decibel. If you're under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you may use Decibel only with permission from a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. You can't use Decibel if we've previously banned you, or if the law prohibits you from using it.

2. Your account

  • You can sign up with an email address, a mobile phone number, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google. Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity on your account. Tell us promptly at contact@stan-official.app if you think someone else has accessed it.
  • Usernames must not impersonate others or infringe anyone's rights. We may reclaim or change a username that does.

3. Verification codes by text message

If you provide a phone number, you agree that we may text you Decibel verification codes when you request them: to confirm your number, sign in, or reset your password. We send one text per request, so how often you get texts depends on how often you ask for a code. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, or HELP for help; you can also email contact@stan-official.app. Opting out means we can't send you codes by text. We don't send marketing texts without your separate consent. Carriers aren't liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your phone number.

4. Your content

"Your content" means the ratings, reviews, discussions, comments, collections, profile information, images, and anything else you post or upload.

  • You own your content. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt (for example, resize or reformat), and distribute your content, together with the username and profile picture shown with it. We use it only to operate, provide, and improve Decibel and to promote it, for example by showing a public review in the app. We may sublicense these rights only to service providers that help us operate Decibel. The license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups for a limited time, and except where others have already shared or interacted with it (for example, replies in a thread).
  • You're responsible for your content. You confirm that you have the rights to post it, and that posting it doesn't violate these Terms, the Community Policy, the law, or anyone's rights.
  • Visibility. Content you make public can be seen by other users. See the Privacy Policy for details.
  • Other people's content. Content posted by other users belongs to them and reflects their views, not ours. To the extent the law permits, we aren't responsible for it.

5. Acceptable use

When you use Decibel, you must follow our Community Policy, which explains what you can post and how to treat other people. In short: no harassment or hate, no explicit or illegal content, no impersonation, no infringement, no fake ratings, and no spam.

You also must not:

  • scrape, crawl, or bulk-collect data from Decibel, or access it with automated means except as we allow;
  • interfere with or disrupt the service, probe its security, abuse verification or SMS features, or get around rate limits, bans, or blocks; or
  • use Decibel to break the law, or help anyone else do any of the above.

You can report posts, comments, and users, and block users, in the app. We review reports and may remove content or restrict accounts that we believe violate these Terms or the Community Policy. We aren't obligated to monitor content, and we may not act on every report.

6. Music catalog information

Artist, album, track, artwork, and description information in Decibel comes from third-party sources, including Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify, MusicBrainz, Wikidata, and Wikipedia. That information and artwork belong to their respective owners. Decibel isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by those services, artists, or labels. We don't guarantee that catalog information is accurate or complete. Links to third-party services are governed by their own terms.

7. Our service and intellectual property

Decibel, including its software, design, logos, and the "Decibel" name, belongs to SUMMA TECHNOLOGIES LLC and its licensors. While you comply with these Terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for its intended purpose. Don't copy, modify, reverse engineer, or resell Decibel except as the law allows. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.

We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Send notices to our copyright agent: Copyright Agent, SUMMA TECHNOLOGIES LLC, contact@stan-official.app. A notice must include:

  1. your physical or electronic signature;
  2. the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed;
  3. the material you believe is infringing and where it is on Decibel, in enough detail for us to find it;
  4. your name, address, telephone number, and email address;
  5. a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use isn't authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
  6. a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

Counter-notices. If we remove your content in response to a notice and you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. It must include your physical or electronic signature; the material that was removed and where it appeared; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification; your name, address, and telephone number; and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you're outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found) and that you'll accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice. We may restore the material 10 to 14 business days after we receive a valid counter-notice, unless the person who sent the original notice tells us they've filed a court action.

Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, can make you liable for damages. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.

9. Ending your account

You can stop using Decibel at any time, and you can delete your account in the app's settings. The Privacy Policy explains how, and what happens to your data. We may suspend or terminate your account, or remove content, if we reasonably believe you've violated these Terms, the Community Policy, or the law, or to protect users or Decibel. Where appropriate, we'll tell you why. Sections 4 (to the extent described), 6, 7, 10 through 14, and 16 survive termination.

10. Disclaimers

Decibel is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law permits, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that Decibel will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that content (including other users' content and catalog information) is accurate.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law permits, SUMMA TECHNOLOGIES LLC won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of Decibel. Our total liability for any claim relating to Decibel is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

12. Indemnity

To the extent the law permits, you'll indemnify SUMMA TECHNOLOGIES LLC against third-party claims arising from your content or your violation of these Terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Talk to us first. Before bringing a claim, you agree to send us a written notice at contact@stan-official.app describing the dispute and the outcome you want, and to try to resolve it with us informally. We'll do the same, using the contact information on your account, before bringing a claim against you. If the dispute isn't resolved within 60 days after the notice is received, either of us may go to court. Either of us may still go to court sooner to seek urgent relief, such as an order to stop an ongoing infringement of intellectual property.

Where disputes are heard. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you and we consent to their personal jurisdiction. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies. If the law where you live gives you the right to bring claims in your local courts or under your local law (for example, if you're a consumer in the UK or the EU), nothing in these Terms takes that right away.

14. Apple and Google app store terms

If you downloaded Decibel from the Apple App Store:

  • These Terms are between you and SUMMA TECHNOLOGIES LLC, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for Decibel and its content.
  • The license in section 7 lets you use Decibel on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service, except that it may also be used by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Decibel.
  • If Decibel fails to conform to any warranty that hasn't been effectively disclaimed, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any, that you paid for it. To the fullest extent the law permits, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Decibel.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to Decibel or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that Decibel fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy, or similar laws.
  • If a third party claims that Decibel, or your possession or use of it, infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling, and discharging the claim.
  • You confirm that you're not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you're not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use Decibel, such as your wireless data service agreement.
  • Send questions, complaints, or claims about Decibel to SUMMA TECHNOLOGIES LLC at contact@stan-official.app.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and once you accept these Terms, Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

If you downloaded Decibel from Google Play, Google Play's terms also apply to your use of the store.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we'll give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Decibel after the change takes effect, you accept the new Terms.

16. General

These Terms, together with the Community Policy and the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about Decibel. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent. We may transfer them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
